I stayed at the Music & Mentoring House this past summer for the duration of the Martina Arroyo Prelude to Performance program. To echo the thoughts of the others above, having the luxury of room and board, especially under the guidance and care of a renowned opera singer, is invaluable. Not only were meals absolutely delicious, but the wonderful friends and acquaintances of Lauren’s became a part of our personal enrichment as well. With breakfast at the start of our busy music days, food to pack for lunches while in the program, evening dinners with other knowledgeable people in the business (actors/directors/managers/etc), and the occasional lesson/coaching with Lauren, there is no doubt that this musical New York experience is well worth your dollars… clearly there is more offered here than just “room & board.” I would be remiss if I did not mention the wealth of information that Lauren possesses on all floors of this home: BOOKS. There are a plethora of books and musical scores available at your fingertips for extra and personal edification for the avid learner. If you are looking for an environment that encourages and fosters excellence in musicianship, a pocket-friendly way to stay in New York while working on your musical endeavors, and a wealth of information and experience from both an artist in the field and her musical library, than the Music & Mentoring House is the place for you.
